Pole Theatre Wrap Up [NSFW]

When we heard our Instructor Gabby was accepted into the Pole Comedy Division at Pole Theatre Sydney 2018, we knew we were in for a treat and boy, did she deliver!

In their own words, Pole Theatre is more than a pole competition. The focus of this competition is on the art of performance. Performers are encouraged to delve deep into their creative consciousness and envision a performance that will astonish and delight.

There are four categories in which you can compete in Pole Theatre, under two Divisions: Pole Art; Pole Comedy; Pole Drama; Pole Classique. Entry is by selection.

The category of Pole Comedy is purely for performances that incorporate humorous and comedic elements. That was the criteria in which the performances were judged. Judges for the event were Maddie Sparkle, Lisa D, Mario Turco & the gorgeous Katy Eve.

With a set up like that, a beautiful theatre and a great line up of local and International artists, it had all the makings for a great night out.

The Vivid Vertical Fitness cheer squad was in full force, the energy was pumping. The laughs were flowing. I can unequivocally say that it was a really enjoyable night. We walked away equal parts inspired and entertained.

Preparing for a competition is hard. In the lead up to the event we asked Gabby how she was feeling about it all and this is what she had to say;

“The lead up to this competition has been more mentally difficult than it has been physically, and time sensitive too!”. “As soon as you realise you have to make people laugh on purpose all of a sudden everything becomes a lot more difficult,” says Gabby.

We’ll let you guys decide if she managed to pull it off.

**NOT SAFE FOR WORK WARNING!**

Note: Due to the nature of the competition, there is a lot of adult humour and inappropriateness, just in case it’s not your thing and/or you’re sitting on a bus with people looking over your shoulder viewing pictures of Gabby with her hand down her jocks! Sorry!

~ And apologies to Gabby’s Mum Lisa, although we know you’re just as proud of her as we are, if not more.

“Life’s hard when you’re 18 and have a crush on your best friend’s Mom. Especially when she looks like THAT!”

Gabby enters the stage to deliver her Pole Comedy version of ‘Stacy’s Mom’ by Fountains of Wayne.

Things go a little awry when Stacy’s Mom AKA hot as hell human prop Lisa, joins Gabby onstage.

The poor kid took the rejection in his stride.

Tried a few sneaky tactics to get noticed.

You missed a spot over there (spot over there)

There were some great pole moments in there.

Stacy’s Mom takes a dip and theres a Freudian slip.

Wait, what’s this? Things seem to be making a turn around.

What? He gets the girl in the end? What a love story.

Note: Gabby did not pay us to laugh at her performance. Side note: Gabby still waiting for my money.

We think she did a great job.

I’ll leave you now with the infamous song that’s cemented Gabby’s place in Pole Theatre history…
